Medical chemical peel

What it involves

A medical chemical peel renews the skin's surface layer to improve spots, texture, marks and radiance. We select the active and concentration according to your skin type and goal, always with medical protocols and the aftercare guidance needed for a safe result.

Benefits

  • Improves spots and texture
  • More radiance
  • Tailored medical protocol

Who is it for?

A medical chemical peel is indicated for people who want to improve sun spots or other forms of pigmentation, texture irregularities, superficial marks or dull skin. It is an excellent option for skin that needs a deeper renewal than everyday skincare can achieve.

Before going ahead, we always assess your skin type, skin history and any relevant conditions. It is not indicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and for darker skin tones we work with actives and concentrations carefully selected to minimise risk. That is why a prior consultation is always essential.

What the session is like

The session begins with a thorough facial cleanse to prepare the skin. We then apply the selected active — chosen according to your skin type and goal — allow it to work for the necessary time, and neutralise or remove it in a controlled manner. The whole process takes around thirty minutes and is performed comfortably in the clinic.

During the application you may notice a sensation of warmth, tingling or mild stinging, which is normal and temporary. Afterwards we will tell you exactly which products to use and what to avoid in the following days to ensure a safe and optimal result.

Results and how long they last

The cell renewal triggered by the peel takes place progressively in the days following the session. Some visible flaking may appear — more or less pronounced depending on the active and concentration used — and this is a natural part of the renewal process; it should never be forced or picked.

The resulting skin looks more even, radiant and with improved texture. The number of sessions recommended depends on your goal: some people see a good result from a single session, while for more complex concerns we plan a protocol of several sessions spread over time.

Aftercare

After a chemical peel, strict sun protection is essential: apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning — and reapply if you are outdoors — for at least the following weeks, as freshly renewed skin is particularly sensitive to UV radiation. Avoid intense direct sun exposure during this period.

It is also important not to use exfoliants or irritating actives (retinoids, acids) until the skin has fully recovered, and to keep it well hydrated with the products we recommend. If flaking appears, moisturise generously but do not pick at it; let it fall away naturally.

Frequently asked questions

Does the peel hurt or sting?
During the application it is normal to feel warmth, tingling or mild stinging, which varies depending on the type of active and the depth of the treatment. In the clinic we continuously monitor how your skin responds and always work within safe parameters. Any discomfort is temporary and fades shortly after the product is removed.
Will I peel visibly? Can I go about my normal life?
It depends on the type of peel performed. With some protocols flaking is minimal or barely noticeable, while with others it may be visible for a few days. We will tell you beforehand what to expect based on the active chosen so you can plan accordingly. In most cases daily life is perfectly compatible with the treatment.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions depends on your goal and the condition of your skin. Some people achieve the result they are looking for with a single session — for example, to boost radiance before an event — while for more sustained work on pigmentation or texture we plan a protocol of several sessions. We assess this together at your consultation.
Is there a better time of year to have a chemical peel?
Autumn and winter months are generally the most suitable because sun exposure is lower and maintaining sun protection afterwards is easier. In summer or during periods of high sun exposure extra precautions are necessary and in some cases we prefer to postpone the treatment to ensure a safe result. If you are unsure, get in touch and we will assess your situation together.
